Tripped over your blog while I was searching for Mom bloggers who might want to review my parenting book on Kindle, Raising Amazing Children (While Having a Life of Your Own.), So, bad news for me -- it doesn't appear that you do much in the way of reviewing parenting books but, good news for me -- you are so very funny and you made me laugh -- a lot -- during my work day. Thanks! I'm in as a reader of yours for life now and sending you my newly pregnant daughter who, at the moment, isn't finding anything about motherhood funny!

oh, I'm so sorry you are going through this ~ I do think it will eventually change if he knows you will be there for him when he treats you nicer, and that you just have to step away when you are treated so horribly... man, I don't know really, it's hard... take care?!

I love my family, but honestly, I don't think I could handle 31 hours straight with them in the comfort of our home, 31 hours straight in airplanes and airports would simply kill me.

THis is hysterical because though I did not bring my own kids to France, I feel like I packed like you did. Imagining every possible issue. Bringing enough entertainment to keep every layover entertained for hours on end. And I only had a 7 hour flight with no layovers. I brought books, my sister's kindle and my ipod full of books. I borrowed a netbook. I was armed with plenty to keep me busy. And I've read about 6 chapters of my book, played with the internet enough to update my blog and that's it. I never touched a single one of these things on the plane ride over! 31 hours is far more than I have traveled, but I think you've prepared enough. I also got to that weird zen like state right before the trip. And I stayed awake for a solid 40 hours and didn't even get a headache. I am afraid to take any kind of sleep aide on the plane because if the pilot croaks, I might have to fly the plane. THis is my theory and I'm sticking to it!

I can't wait to read your experiences in New Zealand!!!

Well, it certainly sounds like you are ready for anything that could happen. Best of luck on your trip! I'm terrified to be on a plane with my kids from Georgia to Florida so you are a far stronger woman than I will EVER be lol!!

You will be fine. I was in the Army and my wife frequently had to travel without me but with our children. To be fair to her, she was not as organised as you ad there were fewer toys in the mid 50s/60s. Other passengers will see what the situation is is and, whilst they may not accept it, are in the same metal tube as you + nippers so they just have to accept it

Hi there,
If you're on Emirates, there are USB chargers on each seat, and can plug your own device in to playback on their entertainment screen. Also, if you're on the DXB-SYD-CHC, Sydney is a bottleneck for transit, ie cramped lounge space. If you're on DXB-SYD-AKL flying the A380, there is empty play space at the front downstairs where all parents and children hangout.
Good luck with your trip. We've done Saudi to NZ and back again twice now with our 15mth old twins, and gearing up for another trip in October.
