Don’t Call Me Batman Here

L has taken to wearing his Batman or Superman pajamas underneath his clothes every day. Thankfully, it’s pretty cold out so the extra layers aren’t really a problem. But you may wonder why he’s wearing them. Well, so was I. Turns out, he has a perfectly reasonable explanation.

Depending on which pair he’s wearing, he is either Bruce Wayne or “Klent Clark.” [sic] See, no one knows he’s the superhero underneath. He’s dressed in his civilian clothes, but handily has the superhero costume underneath in case of emergency. Well thought out, no?

As we walk into a bookstore or supermarket he whispers to me:

“No one knows I’m Batman. Don’t call me Batman here. Call me Bruce Wayne.”

  1. This is so funny. Reminds me of Greg when he was L’s age. Greg was always pretending to be someone else and had a collection of costumes and hats for almost every day. Red capes and masks were always right for almost every occasion. Next in line were the fireman hats…etc.

  2. That’s awesome. He’s brilliant. I go the other way. We are home and the kids are pretending to be someone that I’ve already forgotten and I get corrected, ‘I’m not [real name], I’m Ariel!!!!!!!” And then they cry. Less awesome.

  3. You’re keeping records of these little things, right?

That’s too funny! This is when you you’re thankful for giving birth to him.

The other 95% of the time is still a mystery.

  4. Brilliant! This way you avoid the “putting on your PJs” fight at night, and the “taking off your PJs” fight in the AM! Great idea!
