That’s how L says backwards. Yesterday he was preoccupied with counting “backsards,” but he can’t help but say 8 after saying 7. So all of his attempts were like this:
10…9…8…7…8…9…10
Each time he found himself at 10 again he thought it was funny and frustrating. “It’s not working.” As if it were the numbers’ fault. “Mommy, you try. See if it works for you.” I’d do it. He’d try again and again find himself back at 10. This went on for longer than you’d think possible.
You’re smart to write these things down — it’s amazing how quickly you’ll forget. My son just started kindergarten in August — seems like such a big boy, but I still love it when he says “funiture” instead of “furniture.”
That is a riot! I love it!!
My son says “was” like “whiz” so the sentence sounds like this ” I whiz in my chair mom!”
It’s so cute to imagine his face when he realizes that it “isn’t working.” Adorable!!!
I could totally see it – very cute. It’s true that you are smart to write it down. Can I just write my kids’ cute stuff here too so it’s down? “Ridiclious” and “Surcrise” are still favorites. I also couldn’t stop laughing when they first learned the word “fart” but thought it was “dart” and would announce whenever someone “darted.” Similarly they find “burgers” in their noses.
Dart. LOL.
I love this!
Miss A used to count like this:
“1 2 3 4 5 chicken 8 9 10″
Your post today reminded me of that, and I plan to write it down so I don’t forget.
So thanks!
That is hilarious! Don’t you sort of wish she never learned to do it right? L still does his alphabet in a silly way and I’ll maim whoever teaches him correctly.
You know….Hubby & I never corrected her because we loved it so much. Who needs 6 & 7 anyway? Chicken is WAY better.
Totally. Way better. L’s alphabet has a few doubles and misses a lot of letters. But who needs them?
